Mayor for a Day Contest

The City of Marshall’s Mayor for a Day contest began on January 11th for students in grades 4, 5, and 6 to share their ideas of what they would do if given the title “Mayor for a Day”. Contestants were asked the question: What would Marshall look like if you were in charge of Cultivating the Best in Us? Students were given the option of sharing their ideas through a variety of mediums such as written essays, poetry, artwork, video, and more.

The City’s Community Services department received multiple entries, all of which gave great ideas and highlighted things that they already love about our great community.

“There was some great talent and great ideas, and who knows in 10-15 years maybe some of these young people will be Mayor for longer than a day,” stated Mayor Byrnes.

The City of Marshall recognized the Mayor for a Day contestants during Tuesday’s City Council meeting, where a compilation video was shared, and contestants were invited to attend the meeting virtually.

The City of Marshall’s Mayor for a Day contest winners will receive a signed certificate from Mayor Byrnes, a City of Marshall employee lapel pin, City of Marshall mug, and a Summer 2021 season pass to the Marshall Aquatic Center.
