Mission Statement:The police mission of the Marshall Division of Public Safety, Marshall Police Department is to provide quality police services to the community, acting as partners with community members to promote safety, peace, and order; to respond to and deter crime; to enforce laws and ordinances; and the safeguarding of constitutional guarantees. We nurture public trust by striving to attain the highest degree of ethical behavior and professional conduct at all times.

To fulfill our mission, the Marshall Police Department is dedicated to providing a quality work environment, and to the development of its members through effective training and leadership.

The City of Marshall is considering implementing a body-worn camera (BWC) program for the Marshall Police Department.  Enforcement agencies must provide an opportunity for public comment or input when developing their BWC policies before purchasing or implementing the BWC system.

Comments related to the BWC system or policy can be forwarded by email to the Director of Public Safety at jim.marshall@ci.marshall.mn.us.  A public listening session will also be held on Thursday, October 3rd, 2019 at 6:30 pm at the M.E.R.I.T. Center. A PDF of the proposed policy is included under the attachments at the bottom of this page.
