BUILDING SAFETY

BUILDING SAFETY
The Building Department is responsible for plan review, permitting and inspection of all new construction within the City. The City of Marshall has adopted the Minnesota State Building Code, which in turn adopts the International Building Code, International Residential Code and other codes and standards relating to building construction.

The purpose of the code is to provide minimum standards to safeguard life and limb, health, property and public welfare by regulating and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials, use of occupancy, location and maintenance of all buildings and structures within the City.

The provisions of the code apply to the construction, alteration, moving, demolition, repair, maintenance and use of any building or structure within the City.

We encourage you to call with any questions and concerns about construction projects being considered or already in progress as well as suggestions on improvements. Our general phone number is 507-537-6773. Please feel free to set up an appointment.
