City of Marshall to Host Community Wide Strategic Meeting

The City of Marshall invites the community to develop the City of Marshall’s 2020-2024 Strategic Plan and residents are invited to participate.

The strategic plan outline goals that lead to actions. The important document dictates the direction and priorities of the City over the next three to five years.

The Community Wide Strategic Planning Meeting will be held on Monday, August 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Marshall Area YMCA. The meeting will utilize the World Café style of gathering input. The World Café methodology is a simple, effective, and flexible format for hosting large group dialogue. It is a creative process for leading collaborative dialogue, sharing knowledge and creating possibilities for action in groups of all sizes.
During the event, attendees will have an opportunity to participate in and brainstorm with City Management staff on potential action items that should be included in the upcoming plan.
Possible topics include:

• Downtown Revitalization/Economic Development
• Community Infrastructure
• Public Safety
• Community Outreach, Communication, & Participation

“Community participation is key in guiding the City Council and City staff as we create a vision for Marshall’s future,” said Sharon Hanson, Marshall City Administrator. Mayor Bob Byrnes stated further, “Contributing ideas at this Strategic Planning Meeting is a way for our citizens to get their voices heard.”

The meeting is open to any Marshall community member who wants to attend and everyone will have an opportunity to provide input.
